David Moyes is expecting a completely different game when Everton visit Newcastle United in the Premier League on Monday, just four days after eliminating them from the EFL Cup.
The Toffees ran out 3-1 victors when the sides met in a fourth-round cup tie at Hill Dickinson Stadium, with James Garner, Hayden Hackney and Thierno Barry on the scoresheet.
Their league rematch comes with Newcastle sat 12th in the table following an inconsistent start to Matthias Jaissle's reign, while Everton are a point back in 14th.
Moyes' side have struggled in the league of late, suffering back-to-back 2-0 defeats against Chelsea and Arsenal, following a 2-2 draw with Hull City coming out of the international break.
And though his team were highly impressive in the way they put Newcastle to the sword in the cup, Moyes does not expect things to be similarly smooth on Monday.
"It's a different ball game, going to St. James' Park on a Monday evening," he told reporters. "They've got a great crowd up there, so you always know you're up against it.
"But we go up there with confidence. We have played Newcastle a couple of times this year and done really well."
Despite Moyes being left with a small squad following an underwhelming transfer window, with The Friedkin Group putting the club up for sale shortly after it slammed shut, he is not searching for excuses.
He said: "We're not accepting any excuses for anything: ownership, transfer window. I don't want the players to look for any excuses, and they are doing a great job."

Across the first eight Premier League matchdays this season, Newcastle faced the most shots (138) and only three teams gave up more expected goals (13.7 xG).
The Magpies have faced 15+ shots in six of their eight games, the joint-most of any side along with Coventry City, and Jaissle knows that simply has to change.
"First of all, it is something where we need to work on, that we are not conceding so many goals," Jaissle said.
"We need to just avoid these individual mistakes, especially where the opposition is not that dominant on the pitch. We need to improve for the next match on Monday."
Murphy registered only his second Premier League assist in 37 appearances on matchday eight at Crystal Palace, but it was his 31st in the competition for Newcastle.
That is the joint-third most of any Magpies player in the competition, along with Rob Lee. Only Nolberto Solano (54) and Alan Shearer (35) have more.
As well as winning the most duels in the Premier League this season (63), Tarkowski has the best duel success rate of any of the 280 players to contest 20 or more (78%).
Since his first Premier League start in April 2017, he leads all players for duels won (2,296), aerial duels won (1,398), and shots blocked (491).
In addition to Thursday's cup elimination, Newcastle have only won one of their last six Premier League matches against Everton (D2 L3), having won five of their previous six against the Toffees (L1).
Furthermore, the Magpies have lost 21 of their last 32 Premier League matches on Mondays (W7 D4), including both Monday night games this season, 4-1 against both Leeds United and Coventry City.
Since a 3-2 win at Newcastle in February, Everton are winless in nine away Premier League matches (D5 L4), their worst run since going 14 without a win between December 2023 and September 2024.
Their only longer such run under Moyes was in their final 11 away games in the 2003-04 season.
The Toffees have also lost their last two Premier League games, last losing three on the bounce in January 2025. Under Moyes, the Toffees have not lost three in a row since October 2011, but the Opta supercomputer makes them underdogs for this one.
