Tottenham player eager to go with national team despite fitness difficulties

Tottenham Hotspur‘s Mykhailo Mudryk is keen to represent Ukraine in November and Roberto De Zerbi have a big impact on his chances of playing for the national team.

The winger has had a disappointing spell since becoming available for selection in July, after the doping ban.

Xabi Alonso left him out of his core plans this season. Therefore, Chelsea sent him on loan to Tottenham on deadline day.

The 25-year-old made his debut for Spurs in their 0-0 draw against Nottingham Forest in September, playing 16 minutes. He then suffered an injury in training and has been on the sidelines since then. This saw him miss the last international break.

Tottenham man has NT manager’s assurance

On September 19th, Ukraine manager Andrea Maldera said he’s hopeful for the attacker to represent his country in the near future. He also urged Mykhailo Mudryk to focus on his recovery.

Later that month, Maldera backed the Spurs man to become a key player for the national team.

He said: “And in the future, when Mykhailo is able to return, he’ll be an important asset for the national team.”

Tottenham Hotspur will host Crystal Palace in the league later today. In his pre-match press conference on Friday, Roberto De Zerbi confirmed that Mudryk hasn’t recovered yet. He has so far made only one appearance for the north London club.

Spurs attacker eager to represent Ukraine

Ukraine will face Northern Ireland and Georgia in the UEFA Nations League in November. Despite the injury, Mykhailo Mudryk is “very keen” to represent his country for these two fixtures.

Journalist Igor Tsygankov reports about this and adds doubt about the Tottenham Hotspur man’s involvement next month. He adds this would only be possible if he enjoys minutes with Spurs soon and Sport.ua have relayed his comments.

“I’m not sure that Mudryk will be able to play in the Ukraine national team’s upcoming matches,” he said.

“As far as I know, he is very keen to return to the national team as soon as possible, but to do so, he needs to get back into match fitness.”

“At the moment, Mykhailo isn’t getting regular playing time, so he needs time to get back to peak condition. Whether he’ll manage to do this quickly enough before the national team’s November matches is difficult to say at this stage.”
