Eintracht Frankfurt sign Brazilian defender Otávio
Eintracht Frankfurt have signed Brazilian defender Otávio from Portugal's Estrela Amadora on a contract running until 2031.
Otávio, 20, made 22 appearances in the Portuguese top flight last season to help his club avoid relegation after coming through the ranks at Botafogo in his native Brazil
Frankfurt sporting director Timmo Hardung said: "In Otávio, we’re bringing in a young, highly talented centre-back with enormous potential for development. He’s a left-footer who is tall, athletic and quick, combining those attributes with a strong defensive mentality, which is something we specifically wanted to strengthen in our squad. We’re convinced he’ll bring us a lot of joy here at Eintracht."
Otávio added: "I am very happy to wear the Eintracht Frankfurt jersey. Joining a club with such a rich tradition that competes in major tournaments is a dream come true and a very important step in my career."
The 6'3" centre-back will link up with the rest of the Frankfurt squad on their pre-season training camp in Grassau am Chiemsee, as Adi Hütter gears his side up for their DFB Cup first-round tie at St. Tönis and Bundesliga opener at Union Berlin on 21 and 29 August, respectively.
